BROOKLYN, NY- In the early days of Caitlyn Jenner’s public gender transition, she showed her love and support for the LGBTQIA+ community. Around this time, she was considered the most famous transgender women in the world. Many in the Trans community looked to her for inspiration and hope during their struggles with gender dysphoria.

Caitlyn Marie Jenner came out to the world as a transgender woman in April 2015, announcing her new name in June 2015 on the cover of Vanity Fair titled, “Call me Caitlyn”. Shortly after being awarded an Arthur Ashe award for courage at the 2015 ESPY (Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly) ceremony. From 2015-2016 Jenner starred in her own docuseries titled, “I am Cait”, that followed her struggles with gender transitioning and how it has affected her life and relationships.

“If you want to call me names, make jokes, and doubt my intentions, go ahead because the reality is I can take it…for thousands of kids out there coming to terms with the reality of who they are, they shouldn’t have to take it,” – Jenner stated during her acceptance speech at the 2015 ESPY Awards.

Her support for the Trans community slowly washed away when she started to speak out about her political views. Caitlyn began to delve in politics when she revealed that she was a republican. Like most right wingers, she attempted to distance herself from the “offensive” aspects of the party when her fans responded negatively to the news. She claims to have a conservative economic philosophy, but leans more progressive on social issues.

“I did not transition to become a liberal Democrat,” – Caitlyn wrote in her memoir titled, “The Secrets of My Life”.

The LGBTQIA+ community feels betrayed by Caitlyn and her actions. There is suspicion that she has become the token Trans women of the republican party to bring in votes for the conservatives. Similar to Candace Owens denouncing the existence of racism in America after being a direct victim of racism in the education system to coincide with her new political standpoint.

Who is Candace Owens?

Candace Owens is a commentator for conservatives. Time and time again, she has proven to be a tool of white supremacy, using her blackness to validate anti-black talking points to shield her white counterparts from being held accountable for their blatant racism. She a pawn in the white conservatives’ game. Representing the idea of a “good” black, by having her perpetuate the idea that black people are inferior to white people.

Prior to her emergence as a Black Republican and a Trump super fan, she ran a Trump hate website called Degree180. In 2015 writing statements that alluded to the death of the Republican Party. Soon after in 2016 she made her reemergence as a right-wing Trump supporter. Her willingness to throw the black community under the bus in hopes to be a member of a society that will never accept her; is something to reflect on.

How are Caitlyn and Candace Comparable?

Caitlyn has turned on the queer community after coming out as a conservative. She has gone from standing with the community to now openly supporting harmful bills that could blow up the lives of LGBTQIA+ youth. Caitlyn recently made statements on FOX news, in support of the “Don’t Say Gay” bill being passed by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. An attempt to ignore the existence of queer people in the school system.

Like Candace Owens, Caitlyn Jenner has shown her community that she is no longer with them. Instead of fighting with them, she has decided to fight against them. Failing to educate the next generation, will result in ignorance we see transpiring now throughout our country. Teaching important parts of America’s history instead of hiding its dark reality in order to promote patriotism, will help mold a better human race.
